Celebrating Pride In 2022

Celebrating Pride All Year Long

Generally celebrated in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots, Pride is a commemoration for lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, non-binary, transgender, asexual, intersex, and queer folks -- for our achievements, social and self acceptance, legal rights, and continued fights for national and international recognition and respect.

For us, Pride isn’t just one month out of the year; rather, it’s a daily commitment to uplifting the LGBTQIAP+ community. Here are some of our favorite ways that we show Pride all year long.

Have other ideas? We’d love to hear them -- let us know in the comments!

    1. Pride events all year long. Many communities celebrate Pride all summer long, or during other months of the year. June’s huge crowds and high temps not your thing? Many US cities, such as Raleigh, NC; Madison, WI; Memphis, TN; Atlanta, GA; and Burlington, VT celebrate Pride in August and September. Internationally, Pride is celebrated every month of the year, from January’s Whistler Pride and Ski Festival in British Columbia, to August’s Manchester Pride in the UK. Search online to find a Pride event near you, or plan a vacation to one of these wonderful celebrations. A list of some international Pride celebrations can be found here.
  • Learn (and share) the history. LGBT history is a storied tale -- a movement based in love and personhood, a struggle for acceptance. The Gay Revolution by Lillian Faderman is a brilliant, detailed work showcasing the struggle for queer rights, from the early 20th century to present. Another one of our favorite books is Queer: A Graphic History, an unparalleled non-fiction graphic novel which details complex queer theory, thought, and action from the likes of Michel Foucault, Simone de Beauvoir, Lauren Berlant, and others in an extremely accessible comic book format.
  • Accept yourself and others! We believe that all desires, identities, and expressions are valid -- love is love, and sex is sex, no matter who is participating. Sometimes the largest struggle for LGBT folks isn’t wide societal acceptance, but self-acceptance and acceptance from family members, co-workers, and friends. There is no value judgement to ever pass on one’s gender expression (for example, what they look like - what clothes they’re wearing); at the same time, one’s expression doesn’t dictate their gender. Reminding yourself that anything goes and everything is okay -- and stepping in when you see someone else acting contrary to this -- is perhaps the best way to be an ally all time of the year.
    1. Donate/volunteer at queer organizations. While Pride is a celebration, it’s also a recognition of the fight that still needs to be won. For example, there is no federal law protecting employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in the United States. In 29 states, there is no state-level protection for sexual orientation or gender identity, which means employees can be fired for being LGBT. Because not all of society is accepting, LGBT folks face higher rates of poverty, mental illness, sexual assault, and substance-misuse disorders. Donating, volunteering, and sharing information from queer organizations and activists working to make these unfortunate statistics a thing of the past is a way to remain committed to the cause all year long.
    2. Celebrate with The Fetish Academy! Surprise your partner in bed with fun and sexy Pride themed additions! Our fox tail butt plugs and fox fur clip-on tails come in a variety of rainbow colors and sizes, like the Pride 15" Faux Fox Fur Clip on Tail with Keychain, or Pride 14" Dyed White Fox Clip On Tail. The keychains will spice up your daily look or accessorize your sexy lingerie; clip these on to your belt loops for your daily Furry looks, or use the keychain to create a gorgeous backpack. My favorite foxtail buttplug for Pride is the 32" Extra Long Faux Fox Tail Butt Plug, which has a shining stainless steel plug and a faux rainbow fluffy fox tail that will bring out the animal in you! Made of gleaming faux fur, it is topped by a smooth stainless steel anal plug, perfectly sized for pleasure. The classic shape helps it insert easily and stay in place as you wiggle and move. It is compatible with all lubes, and is even temperature sensitive.

Another Fetish Academy Pride favorite is the Kinklab Stockroom 6 Gates Of Pride Cockrings. With this festive-looking chastity device, you can put the rainbow on your favorite penis and make your play fun. Designed and assembled in Stockroom's own workshop, the six silicone rings connected by a leather strap comfortably restrict the shaft until you're ready to release it. Even the darkest dungeon will be brightened by the colors. Perfect for the sub who's proud of his service to you and wants everyone to know it.

Whether you’re looking for solo play or something fun to add with a partner, the Pride Dildo W-balls is definitely one of the thickest dildos on the market -- and with a rainbow color, what’s not to love?

Having a party? Our Pride Beads, Rainbow Fabric Bunting, and Pride Confetti are perfect to set the scene!

    Enjoy!!
